VALIDATION, EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY
MULTICULTURAL GRIEF SUPPORT
FOR YOUR PERSONAL JOURNEY
You’re in the right place
Grief, a reaction to loss, often propels us into a variety of holistic responses. We experience the ups and downs of the process, just like the waves of the sea. At Anchor Grief we recognize, it can be hard to feel anchored in anything while navigating changes resulting from grief. On the other hand, grief can highlight what we value and the things keeping us grounded like family, friendship, music, nature and self-care.
Join the Anchor Grief community focused on highlighting grief’s impact through sharing, education and social justice.
MEET RASHIDA
As a child, I had little opportunity to engage in conversations around death and grief although loss was all around me. The adults in my life spoke about the subjects away from the ears of children, and kept expressions of grief to limited spaces like the funeral service. As I grew personally and professionally, I discovered and guided many grievers grateful for space to speak their hurts and truth. I recognize the importance of creating a supportive environment that allows grievers to feel validated and accepted.
I’ve had the opportunity to facilitate a variety of bereavement groups including those for children and teens. I also counsel individuals utilizing one-to-one grief support. I am a Thanatologist and licensed Social Worker. I am also a certified Fellow of Thanatology through the Association of Death Education and Counseling.
